I’m Phillip Mathis, a multidisciplinary mid level graphic designer with roots in web design and print production. My work balances creative problem solving with technical precision across print, packaging, and web design.
I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Louisiana Tech University in 2017 and began my career in print shops, getting down and dirty with large format printers and prepress. That foundation gave me a practical understanding of how design functions in the real world and not just on a screen and continues to shape how I design for accuracy, efficiency, and consistency.
Since then, I’ve worked as a freelancer and as an in-house designer for digital marketing agencies and print shops, designing websites, branding systems, marketing collateral, social media graphics, event materials, and packaging systems. My agency experience strengthened my skills in UX and UI design, client collaboration, workflow streamlining, reusable template development, and supporting teams at varying scales. Throughout my career, I’ve collaborated closely with clients to carry projects from concept through production, ensuring ideas translate cleanly into finished work.
Most recently, I worked as a Lead Designer at a paper and packaging company, where I focused on prepress, production efficiency, and packaging design. In that role, I also stepped into box engineering, helping brands launch new products and improve their in store presence. Alongside my full time work, I co founded a small web design agency and continue to contribute on a contract basis.
I am currently seeking new opportunities where I can contribute as a thoughtful, production minded designer on a collaborative team. If you are looking for someone who values clarity, craftsmanship, and storytelling, I would love to connect and talk about how I can support your work.
